I am sure you have learnt a lot so far and can be put into practice!
What do I want you to do in this case? Well, it is very simple. There is an image presentation below called 'Voicethread' in which you will find 4 pictures of different places in the world. All of them belong to English-speaking countries, that is, people who live there speak English.
This activity is very easy.
1) First of all, click on the 'Play' icon that is on the image.
2) You will see the first picture then, and you are allowed to comment it so click on comment.
3) There is a written question in each picture that I would like you to answer, so read the question.
4) If you have a microphone at hand, you can click on record and talk, so the rest of the people will be able to hear your voice.
5) If you do not have a microphone, you can type the answer, but it is nicer to answer orally.
6) As there are 4 pictures and you have to do the same in all of them, click on the arrow which means that you will see the following picture, and comment it as well!
7) When you finish commenting... that's all! Thanks for participating! I will send you some feedback afterwards! :)
IMPORTANT: Please use the structures we have learnt so far!
- There is / There are
- Present simple and present continuous
GLOGSTER PROJECT
Once you have commented this Voicethread presentation, I would like you to do group activity.
The activity consists of creating a Glogster Project (there is a Glogster tutorial in the section of the blog called 'Glogster') about different cities in the world. As we are 25 children in our class, we will be divided into 5 groups of 5 children each. Each group will elaborate a poster of a city. I have chosen 5 important cities of the world:
- Madrid
- Paris
- Tokio
- Rome
- Moscow
We will match each group with a city the following day in class, but you can start looking for information about them on the Internet if you want.
WHAT DO WE HAVE TO DO?
Once we know how to elaborate our own poster at http://edu.glogster.com/ , you need to collect information about the specific city you have been told to work on. Your poster must answer the following questions:
1) How many people live in that city?
2) What language do people who live in that city speak?
3) What is the weather like in that city? (During the summer and the winter)
4) What is the most important monument of that city?
5) What is the flag of the country in which that city is located?
6) You are free to add any other interesting information! Be creative :)
Remember that you are a group, so you need to collaborate with each other! There is a lot of information on the Internet so you will not have any problem to fulfil the task.
ASSESSMENT: How will I evaluate this project?
I provide you with this document in which you can see what aspects I will take into account before giving you a mark, I hope it is useful and understandable for you. Don't worry if you have any query because I will explain this to you in class this week.
